BABOR - HSR Lifting Creme
3 of 4 people found the following review helpful: Most of us know that the skin care preparations used in exclusive spas here and throughout the world are among the finest and most effective. Thus, it's very special when we're able to purchase items from such a skin care line for use in our own home. Such is now the case with Babor. For those not familiar with this line, Babor is a German firm noted for products of the highest quality. As you can see here, it's used at the Palm Beach Institut in the U.S. Most recently the vaunted five-star Hotel Cipriani in Venice opened a full-service spa with, of course, Babor products. This particular cream from Babor's High Skin Refiner Collection is especially formulated for mature skin that needs a boost. For use both in the morning and at bedtime the High Skin Refiner Lifting Cream is created to immediately minimize fine lines and wrinkles. Ingredients include plant ceramides, oat and wheat proteins and mango seed oil, all of which unite to retain needed moisture and result in an intensive firming effect. In addition, it improves elasticity which adds to a youthful appearance. This is a light weight cream that goes on smoothly and absorbs quickly, leaving skin softer and prepared either for a night's rest of application of makeup. If you've not yet experienced any of the Babor products they are highly recommended. - Gail Cooke

Silversmiths to the Nation: 1808-1842
11 of 12 people found the following review helpful: The pair founded their firm in 1808 Boston, and moved to Philadelphia some three years later. Today we think of Tiffany, at that time it was Fletcher & Gardiner, premier silversmiths who flourished until 1842. They revolutionized public appreciation of silver, and made it available not only in elegant presentation pieces but also for personal use. Their artistry astounds on a pitcher boasting sculpted lion-paw feet and a hinged lid where again sculpture is employed to create a serpent, a dog head, and a dolphin. All of which, as is noted, "figured importantly in classical art." The base of this particular piece is "ornamented with borders and panels of vegetal decoration." There is a sauceboat with a curved handle "terminating with a female mask." In commemoration of the sinking of a Britain's Guerriere off Newfoundland's coast on August 19, 1812, the firm created the "heaviest, tallest, and most complex work in silver ever produced in North America." It is grand and perfectly captured in a full page photograph, only one of 300 illustrations in this handsome volume. Also included are working drawings from The Metropolitan Museum of Art. This is a rare book and a joy not only for collectors, scholars, and curators but for all who find pleasure in beauty. - Gail Cooke

Joey New York Firm and Tone Eye Cream 0.5 oz.
3 of 4 people found the following review helpful: Sublimely rich without being heavy or greasy this light weight eye cream both moistens and tones. It's aroma free and absorbs quickly for makeup application while continuing to hydrate. We've had the best results by patting gently around the eye area both after cleansing the face in the morning and before bedtime. A neat trick to refresh your face and give eyes a dewy appearance is to pat a small amount around eye area over makeup for a quick pick-me-up if you're rushing from the office to dinner. Just a tiny amount does it, banishing that "crinkly" look that can appear toward the end of the day.

NFL Tour
Fun: This game isn't bad if you're looking for a game to occupy the time in between playing other games such as Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3. In that role this game excels because it's a game you can spend as much time as you want playing. I mean this literally. Sometimes I find myself needing a break from an intense FPS game session and I'll pop this NFL Tour in and play a few games that might last somewhere between 10-30 minutes. The games are very short so you can play as many as you want and not have to worry about the time getting away from you like it does when you play a game like Madden. My only gripe with this game is that it really lacks hard, bone-crunching hits, and the animations get stale, as does the commentary, after only a short while. I guess it's a good thing that the fun factor is there. Happy Gaming!!

Rock Band
0 of 1 people found the following review helpful: Fun: First off, the only reason I didn't give this game 5 stars was because it doesn't come with the guitar unless you buy the full package for $[...], which is muy lame! Anyways, the game itself is an absolute blast! There is so much fun to be had playing this game that cramming it all into this review won't even come close to doing it justice. Multiplayer is awesome and should be experienced by all! My only real gripe with the game is its lack of hardcore rock tracks from bands like Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for my Valentine, Buckcherry, Sevendust, etc. Other than that the game is great!

A Whole New Life| 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: In the same candid, sometimes funny, yet always affecting words, the popular and prolific author tells of his battle with disease. First struck down in 1984, he suffered through surgery, days of agonizing pain and was eventually confined to a wheelchair, unable to function professionally or personally. He later sought treatment with a hypnotist at Duke University's psychiatric department with beneficial results. Throughout, Price gives credit to the power of prayer, which he calls "the first strong prop beneath my own collapse." This is not only the story of an illness and recovery, it is the saga of resolve when confronted with a frightening enemy, and it is a tale of family and friendships, the human network that supports us. Highly recommended. - Gail Cooke |

Roxio Toast 8 Titanium (Mac)
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: Disc spanning, which allows for the burning of data across multiple discs, certainly helps in backing up large files, and I use it often. And the "Fit to Disc" compression for burning a large VIDEO_TS to one 4.7GB DVD is also much-used feature for me, since I work with a lot of video. I also encode a lot of MPEG-2 files at work, and burning them to DVD is a snap, and the final product looks great. Toast 8 also allows for customizable menus, based on 10 templates, and you can replace backgrounds and change button colors to your liking. I'd have liked less tacky template options and the ability to choose my own fonts, as well as the ability to add my own chapter markers, as opposed to the automatic markers Toast adds every 10 minutes. But still, for everything else Toast 8 does, these are small things. I've also tested quite a few video file formats, and Toast 8 can burn most to DVD or VCD. Basically, if QuickTime can handle it, Toast can burn it; though depending on the format, some take longer to transcode. I can't attest to how well the add-on software, like Disc Cover, Motion Pictures, Toast Video Player, and Deja Vu work, as I use other programs to do that. But for what I wanted Toast 8 to do, namely authoring DVDs, it does most of it without any problems. For the cost and ease of use, Toast is the best disc burning solution out there for the Mac.
