Battlestar Galactica Demo

Posted by PCGamers Blog
http://www.pcgamersblog.com/

Battlestar-Galactica-custom.jpg Pixelrage have posted a 102mb demo of the upcoming cash in/moneyspinner/top down shooter based upon the hit TV series BattleStar Galactica. The reletively small size doesn't even make up for the lack of gameplay; this game is going to be seriously short, and has no chance of even coming close to doing justice for the series. Why oh why does someone not make a real action game out of it, or even an MMO? I hope you are listening, developers! See article.

Blizzard Top Secret MMO in need of staff!

Posted by PCGamers Blog

Blizzplanet has made us aware that Blizzard have posted some new job oppertunities on their employment site, and they appear to reveal a rather interesting project. Although no details are about, people are already speculating that it is a StarCraft MMO.

The positions available are all most definitely not for an announced project, as they have a big top secret sign next to them, and all reference an upcoming 3D MMO....and Blizzard certainly don't have one of those in progress... unless it's a new expansion for WoW.

We shall see.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's finally here, for better or worse, October 31, 2007
Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Rockstar is no stranger to controversy, which Manhunt 2 garnered much of when it was labeled with an Adults Only rating not too long ago. Now, Manhunt 2 is finally here and carrying a Mature rating instead, but don't think that this game has been watered down a whole lot. If you played the original Manhunt, you'll feel right at home here as you play as escaped inmate Danny, who is on a mission to seek the truth. However, as the title of the game implies, you've got some trouble approaching on your tail in the form of hunters, who are looking to do some harm to you, which is saying it quite lightly. As with the first game, stealth is the name of the game, and it requires quite a bit of skill that proves pretty rewarding once you get the hang of it. The execution moves serve up ample amounts of blood and guts as well, even though a blurring effect has been added to the most violent scenes of the game. Manhunt 2 isn't without it's flaws though, including the fact that the game isn't really all that suspenseful compared to the first game. The atmosphere remains eerie, but it just feels like there's something missing here. The music and sound effects are well done, but the graphics engine looks incredibly dated. Gameplay wise, the stealth tricks work wonderfully, but the gunplay elements are rather disappointing in terms of style. The story is pretty engaging though, and the tag price isn't too bad either, which are big pluses. All in all, the controversial Manhunt 2 is finally here, and it's definitely worth checking out, but whether or not it's worth adding to your library is entirely up to you.

Kane and Lynch Breaking Out Early!

Posted by PCGamers Blog

tgs06_Kane-

Eidos and IO have been pleased to announce the unusual fact that their game, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, is in fact going to be available in shops PRIOR to it's original release date. Such a thing rarely happens, with many games (Duke Nukem Forever, anyone?) failing to meet their original release dates by significant periods of time.

It is shaping up to look like a really quite good game, and will be available through the standard retail, and also online distribuion on November the 13th.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, October 31, 2007
It's no secret that Spider-Man 3 is a disappointing entry in the feature film franchise of Marvel's web-crawling superstar. That being said, what we have here is a pretty solid superhero story that does as much right as it does wrong, and could have been so much better than what it is. As the story picks up, Peter (Tobey Maguire) and Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst) are together and happy, which soon gets spoiled upon the arrival of new villain Sandman (Thomas Haden Church) who is the real man responsible for Uncle Ben's death. Not to mention the fact that a gooey, alien symbiote has latched itself onto Peter, and has allowed for all his inhibitions to get left at the door as he embraces his dark side. The biggest problem with Spider-Man 3 is that there are too many characters in the story. Sure, it's nice to see Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard) in the movie, but she's here for little reason really. What is also disappointing is having Eddie Brock/Venom (Topher Grace) here as well. Arguably the most hyped about aspect of the film upon it's release, Brock's character development is non-sensical, and while his transformation into Venom and usage in the climactic final battle are plenty good, he's just not here enough. James Franco's turn as Harry/New Goblin is also quite underdeveloped, although when he's bad, he's good. Despite the negatives, there is a lot to admire here, mainly Maguire's gleeful turn as the "bad" Peter Parker (with an emo haircut), and he is clearly having a blast doing it. Stan Lee's cameo is the best the legendary creator has had in a Marvel movie yet, and Bruce Campbell once again pops up in a cameo, and provides some nice laughs. The CGI effects are wonderful, and director Sam Raimi knows what he's doing, but it just feels like he wanted to do too much with too little time. All in all, Spider-Man 3 isn't bad one bit, and you can certainly do much worse when it comes to mega budget superhero movies, but at the end of the day, the film proves sadly disappointing.

Captivity (Unrated Widescreen Edition) DVD ~ Elisha Cuthbert

1.0 out of 5 stars Enough already, October 31, 2007
Is anyone else tired of the torture sub-genre that has been all the rage the past couple years? I know I am. The torture sub-genre is the most unoriginal thing to hit the horror genre since the slasher, and with Captivity, it seems more tired and uninspired than ever. Uber-hottie Elisha Cuthbert plays a well known celeb who gets a very rude awakening when she's drugged and kidnapped by an insane and blood thirsty killer, who soon proceeds to torture and maim her over the brink of insanity. Incredibly bloody and vile, Captivity doesn't do anything the least bit original, or try to either, and any twists that abound are pathetic to say the least, not to mention the performances as well. As part of the After Dark Films series, Captivity is undoubtedly the worst, and not even worth seeing for the most die hard of horror fans. I like blood, gore, and horror as much as the next guy, but the torture-horror genre goes more for nauseating gore tricks than scares and shocks. Avoid, and even if you are a die hard fan of all the Saw's and Hostel's, leave this one on the shelf.

Mushkin Enhanced XP2-6400 (DDR2-800) 2×1GB Memory Kit

Posted by TheTechLounge - Recent Articles: Hardware: Memory
http://www.thetechlounge.com

Mushkin has been on the enthusiast scene for over a decade, and consistently produces memory at better timings and higher clockspeeds than the majority of competing memory manufacturers. Their devotion has never been widely heralded; they're predictable in a market that champions flash and innovation, even when that same stuff is, more often than not, ridiculous and temporary. Does Mushkin's consistency ensure another above-average kit?

Thanks to a strong set of core specs, the Gateway GM5632E is the best deal going on in a mainstream traditional desktop. It might be missing a few fancy, nonessential features, but it has a strong enough foundation to make up for any deficiencies.
