Samsung SyncMaster 225BW 22” Widescreen LCD

Samsung has an outstanding history of producing great LCD monitors. Today we look at the Samsung SyncMaster 225BW 22" Widescreen LCD display. Its 22" size is an upgrade from the 20" widescreens that have dominated the market for the past two years. And what a welcome upgrade it is. The unit sports an MSRP of $500, however I couldn't find any store that is actually selling it for that price. The usual price is between $380 and $400 (plus any applicable shipping and tax); although at the time I checked (December 26th) prices were cut further because of the after Christmas sales.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Most Difficult Marital Counsel Book , December 28, 2006
So much can be said about this book...however, the best and most practical statements that can be made is that if you really want your marriage to recover from whatever negative condition that it is in, the application of the content of this book will rescue you from the turbulant waters of tension to a peaceful still lake calm. Furthermore, the honest consideration and application of this book will be really hard on both spouses. There is nothing 'easy' about this book. This is not a 'quick fix' marriage book. However, the persistence and perseverance of each person working through each chapter (no matter how long it takes) is well worth it IF you want a healthy and growing marriage. If all you want to do is yet read another book on bettering your marriage, forget it. No book can better your marriage; only you with your spouse can better your marriage as long as you follow a healthy and beneficial plan, like this book's content.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Car Camping Family Tent, December 28, 2006
This is a great tent to buy IF you have a family, are car camping, and don't want to spend an 'arm and a leg' to get a good quality tent. To find this tent I had researched much by asking many questions of retail sales persons, reading many manufacturers descriptions of family car-camping type tents, talking to friends and aquaintences of types of tents they would recommend, narrowed down a few selections to my price range, and read comments from owners who had purchased tents that they valued as worthy for others to consider buying, like this one. I have to say that this tent is pretty much as others have described it to be. It is very roomy and has plenty of (height)head room. There are only two minor complaints that I have. First, the room divider does not come out, meaning it would be better if it was velcroed to the exterior walls as opposed to sewn to them. But part of the wall can be rolled vertically to create an opening. Second, the light that comes with the tent does not come with a battery to run it. And the type of battery needed is not to be found in any store I have gone to that sells batteries. This is a frustration since the remote controlled light was a selling point. Neither of these issues detracts from the condition of the tent itself, however. The tent is constructed well and it does take about 20-30 minutes with two persons to assemble it as others have said. But once it is up, it is nice! I had read from one pleased owner that their tent leaked ever so slightly in a rain storm. So I applied seem sealer right away to make sure I wouldn't have a similar problem. I think it is worth the precaution no matter what tent is purchased. My family and I love the second door on the tent as well as the ventelation system for great air circulation. The construction of the tent, poles, zippers, straps, and even the tote with wheels are excellent. A great tent for the car camping family!

5.0 out of 5 stars Motorized train even fun for older kids, December 27, 2006
I bought this train for my seven month old, and while she really likes it, it's my 3 year old who really loves it. She'll put the cat in the engine car and press the button to make it move, and the cat will go on rides around the house in the train. Every animal moves and clicks, and have different textures on their feet. The kids really love this train.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great camera for the pre-school crowd, December 27, 2006
We got this camera for our 3 year old daughter, she loves it. It is very durable, and easy for her to use. She can easily review the pictures she takes and delete any pictures that she doesn't like. You will want to buy an optional memory card to store more pictures. The photo quality is poor, but that doesn't matter to her. If you are buying a camera for a more responsible carefull, grade school child, you will want to buy a regular cheap digital camera. But for the younger kids who love taking pictures, who can't be trusted to not destroy a normal camera, this is the way to go. I would give this 5 stars if the photos were not so blurry. This is the only digital camera with an lcd display on the back for the younger kids that I have found. I highly recommend this product, just don't expect the pictures to win any awards.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very cute Christmas movie, December 27, 2006
The children (ages 2-3) love this movie, and request to watch it all the time. It is a very cute movie, but the little girl in the beginning of the movie says "Shut up!", which is something I don't want the kids to pick up. Overall, the kids love it, and I recommend this movie as a very cute, slightly cheesy Christmas movie.

2.0 out of 5 stars locket is very small, December 27, 2006
We bought this locket for my daughter, and had it personalized with her initials on one side, and the year on the other. This is such a small locket, that it will be very hard to put a picture in it. Also, the locket is very, very hard to open. The top of the heart wasn't closed all the way, so the locket kept falling off the chain, we had to have it fixed. Now it stays together, my daughter loves it and wears it every day, but I would have bought a different locket if I had realized how small this is, and that we would have to do some repairs on it before it could be worn.

5.0 out of 5 stars just like a ballet class, December 27, 2006
This product is great for my 3 year old daughter. This is just like having her go to a beginner ballet class. She loves this dvd and wants to watch it almost every day. It is a well organized format, and easy to follow. Yes, the teacher doesn't smile, but my daughter doesn't mind, and that's what matters.

4.0 out of 5 stars Engaging movie, CD is an added bonus, December 27, 2006
We just got this dvd and my 7 month old seems to enjoy it. My 3 year old daughter and some of her friends (ages 2-3) watched the whole thing. My 7 month old will watch only about 1/4 of the dvd before she loses interest. This seems to be a bigger hit with the slightly older crowd. My baby will watch the entire baby einstein baby bach dvd, so that series seems to be better for the babys if you have chores you have to do. I like that this comes with a cd, we listen to it in the play room, or in the car, overall a good dvd.

Midnight Plague

Midnight Plague by Gregg Keizer

2.0 out of 5 stars A missed chance on a very interesting theme, December 27, 2006
Frank Brink is an American doctor, who is interested in the plague. When in early June 1944 a French fishing boat reaches the English shore with a load of Jews dying form the plague, the English military fears that the Germans will react to the invasion of Normandy by setting free a biological weapon based on the plague. Frank Brink is sent to France with a deadline plus two men from the Secret Service who appear to have their own orders plus the young woman who took the boat the England and remained free of the plague. Their adversaries are SS officers and doctors with big egos and no consciences whatsoever.

In principle a very interesting theme around the use of infectious organisms for biological weapons, but the book somehow does not become interesting. the Germans (apart from one Kripo) are caricatures and so sadistic that it becomes gross, the perspective from which the story is told changes with every few pages and a few times when the author does not know how to solve all the problems that the main persons ran into, some bombs mysteriously appear and kill all the Germans, leaving the main characters unscathed. All in all this lead to a less-than-believable book, a missed chance...
