5.0 out of 5 stars The HP calulator is a dinosaur - this is mortgage qualifying!, June 28, 2006
There's not too much to say about this calulator - it does the job well. However, There's really only 4 buttons you use consistantly - Loan Amt/Pmt/Term/Interest. And they do make a calculator that just has those four buttons (plus calculator keys).
I don't know what I would do without mine. If you're a L/O, you need a mortgage calculator.

Reading the other review. I'm glad I used fender washers when mounting the bins. They have not failed me yet. I had previous Big Bin's at another house, and they lasted 7 years - they may still be there - I left them.
Here's my one complaint - you WILL spill some when dispensing into the provided cups. You must use a container much wider than the dispenser.

My only complaint is that it doesn't beep. I know this may sound strange, but my other one beeped the heartbeet and when it was finished. I just got used to it. Other than that, no complaints.

4.0 out of 5 stars No complaints about this shredder., June 28, 2006
It takes 10 pages no problem. The best is that it will take an entire unopened envelope you know is junk. Before, I had a strip shredder and it would not do this except with very light envelopes. I like the casters on the bottom too. Wish the hopper was bigger. Another reviewer somewhere said you MUST buy a shredder with the drive motor separate from the cutters, or the motor will fail. I believe this from my own experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, an Apple that can successfully run Windows XP!, June 28, 2006
I am a loan officer and am forced to use Windows XP for ONE program that's not written for the mac as well (Calyx Point). Also, some Wholesale lenders have Internet Explorer only sites.
I am an Apple fan. I HATE the PC - it is the rope holding back progress in the computer age. Not that the Apple is any crowning glory of computers either, it's just better than the PC.
Just thought one should know my bias before my review.
The mini IS faster than my 1.8Ghz iMacG5. And, with the new emulator from Parallels, Windows XP runs exceptionally well. However, I WOULD NOT expect to do this without upgrading the memory. I upgraded to 2Ghz, installed myself, and have flawless operation of XP and OSX. Downfall-you have to release the printer from one system to the other to use. Unless you network the printer maybe? Anyways, I re-used an old Compaq monitor and keyboard with no problems.

1.0 out of 5 stars Curious all reviewers have only reviewed this and nothing else., June 28, 2006
I figured I'd add my 2-cents about this book because all other reviewers have only reviewed this book and have not reviewed anything else an Amazon.com, except for one who gave a bad review for this book's only competition on this specific subject matter. Unless someone else that actually submits reviews on other products on Amazon.com reviews this book, it would look like someone's trying to promote their book through friends.
This book is ok. It's no better and no worse than any other guide out there. You can find the same info on the internet. But I find it convenient to have a book like this in my collection. I have only visited Colorado once, and this was for the purpose of riding atv's. I do recommend the experience, and I do not have any complaints about this book. It does show where you are allowed to ride atv's, and shows just about every major trail for atv's around. Anyways, there's my 2 cents.

iHome iH5 iPod Clock Radio

Posted by TheTechLounge - Recent Articles: Multimedia: Speakers

Not long ago we took a look at the JBL OnTime, an all-in-one iPod docking station, alarm clock, and radio. While the OnTime is a competent product, there are some quirks and design flaws that, when combined with its relatively high price, open the door for competition. One of the companies competing in the same market as JBL is iHome. While the company may not be quite as well known as JBL is to most of us, they've found a nice little niche by offering numerous iPod-dockable devices that include alarm clocks, boom boxes, and under-the-counter players. The product we'll be looking at today is their iH5 clock radio which competes directly with products like the JBL OnTime. Let's see if the iH5 has what it takes to hang with the big boys.

2.0 out of 5 stars Warmed-over Supe, June 26, 2006
While I am a comics fan, as well as a comics movie fan, I was never a huge Superman fan. I loved the first two movies, and have been anxiously awaiting the new Superman Returns, particularly in light of the fact that Bryan Singer was chosen to resurrect the Man of Steel for the big screen.

In a word, this story is weak. I had hoped for a fresh take on Superman, or perhaps even a re-invention of the character. What has surfaced is a boring rehash of themes that are decades old, and in many ways, a remake of the original Superman movie and its plot. While the character of Superman is given an emotional and introspective element here, the other main characters haven't been afforded the same opportunity. Lex Luthor comes off more as a parody of a villain, more so than a villain. Kitty Kowalski is a carbon copy (in terms of personality, anyway) of Miss Teschmacher (Valerie Perrine's character) from the first movie. Lois Lane is presented as very bland, and little reason is given for Superman to still hold a torch for her.

The best thing I could say about this book is that it's a quick and easy read. That is a critique of the writing itself, not the story. I really wanted to love this story, but the bottom line is that I did not.

While reading this novelization hasn't deterred me from wanting to see the new movie, it has made me believe that it will blind its lack of story with dazzling special effects. Bryan Singer's vision for the first two X-Men movies worked like a charm; he was able to create two very successful comic book movies that did not come off as comic books. With Superman Returns, his vision seems to have been met with a healthy dose of kryptonite. The Last Son of Krypton deserved a better fate.

In brief, UpgradeDetect is a free web-based service (it also exists as a downloadable executable file) that does just what the name implies, detects possible upgrades to your computer system by utilizing the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) of the memory ROM (among other intricate programming secrets Im not smart enough to understand). Two versions are available, one for home users and one geared more towards IT professionals. What you will find after visiting the website and running the utility is an evaluation of your computing horsepower and a list of suggested upgrades.
