Juice Box Personal Media Player - Blue| 26 of 35 people found the following review helpful: Durability: While I do understand that this is a kid's toy and the quality of a device at this price is not going to be top notch, I most certainly expected more than this. It feels cheap, poorly made and the quality of the videos are terrible. While some may say, "Well, what do you expect from a kid's toy?" I have to say that I also own a VideoNow Color, and that device is heads and shoulders above this.First off, features. Yes, it says that it can view JPG photos or playback MP3s. The thing is, you'll need to purchase a separate device to load your pics and songs onto a cartridge to do so. So, if that's what you or your child wants to do, be prepared to fork out even more money. It is primarily meant to be a video player, but I have my doubt about that as well. Second, quality. The videos I watched on the JuiceBox were grainy, washed out and barely viewable. The sound was poor and the screen seemed smudged, no matter how many times I tried to clean it. Again, some may say "What do you expect? If you want good sound and picture, buy a DVD player." Not a good comparison, as a DVD player can cost up to 10x as much. No, better to compare it to a VideoNow Color--which blows it away in terms of clarity of sound and picture. Even the videos for the Gameboy Advance are better than this. And finally construction. Talk about poorly made. It's as light as (if not lighter) than a deck of cards and the plastic feels cheap and thin. The screen's edges looked like it had air bubbles under it. I don't think it would last more than a day in the hands of a seven year old. I literally could crush this thing with one hand if I wanted to. And the cartridges the media comes on are even worse. They are as light as a matchbook and would probably snap in two if squeezed. Overall, I am terribly disappointed with this product. Yes, it is smaller than the VideoNow and can playback MP3s or display photos, but only at an additional cost. For about the same price, the VideoNow is a far better portable video player for kids, with sturdier construction, more content and better video quality. |

I'm not an avid console gamer, but I love my GBA SP and I used to play it all the time...until I got my PSP. I wanted to find something wrong with it. Really. I own a Nintendo DS and figured that there was no way Sony would be able to get in on the stranglehold Nintendo has had on the portable gaming market. I was wrong.First off, size. It's not as big as some people may think and my wife and I have (we each own one) have played for over an hour without our hands getting tired. It is surprisingly lightweight, but never feels cheap. It is, of course, much larger than a GBA SP, and it is definitely NOT a device that will fit in most pockets. But, if you carry a backpack or bag, it will fit nicely without taking up too much space or weighing you down. Next is controls. You can forget about the "analog" joypad that is mentioned. It's more like a sliding button that most gamers will ignore. Aside from that, the controls are much like the original Playstation's, with the directional pad, four buttons and the shoulder buttons. The nice touches were the volume controls, display brightness and "HOME" buttons. I didn't care much for the slider switch for the power, but it does keep the PSP from going on accidentally. Finally, graphics and sound. I cannot say how thoroughly impressed I am with the PSP's screen. It is bright, crisp and oh-so beautiful. I almost wept when I first turned it on. Really. It is just that beautiful. It blows away the Gameboy and DS. It's even nicer than my Sony portable DVD player's screen. And sound? It is loud and clear. I've been thoroughly hooked on "Minna no GOLF" (Hot Shot's Golf) and from "Nice Shot" to the groans when I miss a putt, everything is easily distinguishable and very nice. I suppose I could mention the other features, like the video player, photo viewer and music player, but those are just bonus features to me. I own an iPod, and I know that the PSP will never replace that. Its interface is not nearly as intuitive and those memory sticks are expensive. Same for videos until I buy "Resident Evil" or "Pirates of the Caribbean" on UMD. The only useable feature is the photo viewer, and it's because of that beautiful screen. Forget about using a PDA or phone for that! The only downside is that you can't play your music while viewing a slideshow on the PSP. Bummer. But if you own a Sony digital camera that uses Memory Stick Duo, you can view your pics on a big, bright screen instead of on that tiny camera's LCD! Big bonus! I'll admit I was wrong four months ago, when I said that Nintendo will maintain its stranglehold on the portable gaming industry. Sony's first foray into the fight for portable gaming supremacy is a staggering one. I don't expect the DS to be able to hold its own against this. The only thing the DS has for it is its compatibility with GBA SP games and its lower price. At over $200 for the PSP alone, that's a big chunk o' cash (not to mention the cost for all the peripherals and games). I still think the GBA SP is still the best portable system ever, with its huge library of quality titles and tiny footprint, but if there were ever reason for Nintendo to be shaking in its boots, this is it. |

It's Me Again
| 3 of 9 people found the following review helpful: This album was better than Southern Hummingbird, but thats not saying much especially since I didn't like nothing on Southern Hummingbird. The songs she did with Nisan Stewart (Cab Ride, Small Change, I'm Done) were the best songs on the album. All the rest were pretty much produced by Missy and they all sucked except "You". that makes 4 good songs, thats not a good percentage. Tweet w/ No Missy= Multiplatinum Success |
