Kingwin KT-424 Aluminum Midtower Case

Lately the market has been so saturated with cheap-looking, pre-modded variations of classic cases such as the Dragon that, quite frankly, it disgusts me. I know I'm not the only one with a bad taste in my mouth from the current chassis trend, and that is why today I am checking out at an oldie that looks promising.

The Twilight Zone - Collection 1 DVD ~ Twilight Zone

5.0 out of 5 stars What Television Can Be With The Right Person In Charge, October 24, 2004
I don't think I can add any more to what others have said below about "The Twilight Zone" beyond my review title, but there are two complaints:

1. Why couldn't the DVD release of this timeless series have been in broadcast order rather than a collection of random episodes from the many seasons this show was on the air? I would have loved to experience the show the way audiences did in the late 1950s and early 1960s without having to constantly be changing discs in order to see it this way. It is a senseless omission from an overall stellar package.

2. If the producers of the "Gilligan's Island" DVD set could get 14-16 episodes of that show on one double-sided disc, couldn't we get the same for "The Twilight Zone?" There are far too few episodes on each disc.

Perhaps the inevitable re-release of the series at some time in the future can correct these flaws.

Addendum: I originally wrote this review in October 2004. In the interim, "The Twilight Zone" was finally released in full-season form, subtitled "The Definitive Edition." Do not waste your money on this, likely soon-to-be-deleted version. Purchase the new version to see it as should be seen.

Our Only May Amelia (Harper Trophy Books) by Jennifer L. Holm

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't recommend it, October 21, 2004
This is a very interesting story based in part on a diary found by the author's grandaunt, Alice Amelia Holm. It's about a 12 year old Finnish girl who lives in Washington on the Nasel River. She has seven brothers (even though one is actually a cousin). There is a good map in the beginning of the book.

This book is immediately interesting. The odd style of capitalization and punctuation (or lack of it) makes you feel
like someone is really talking to you. And the way things are
often described in the present tense makes you feel like you are there. The family is deeply connected, even aunts and uncles who don't live there. And the grandmother - even though
she was so terrible, it's the family connection that makes them
let her live there.

I can't recommend it because there is an incredible amount of death, even murders, and it's too much to bear. Also, so much talk of spirits and ghosts and curses, etc. Finally, one thing
happened that was just so unbearable it nearly ruins the whole
book, charming as it is.

There is one girl in our family and I thought this book would really help her and her brothers because this family really loved each other and they understood how special each one was.
She said to her one brother whom she didn't want to leave "you're the only Matti I've got" and he said "just remember, you're the only May we've got". I read the book to
the kids by crossing out most of the deaths and all of the
ghosts and swearing. After that, it was a really good book.

D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G Wireless

I would definitely recommend an enhanced wireless G setup such as D-Link's offering over a strictly 'G only' setup. D-Link has shown me that you can in fact obtain good transfer speeds minus the wired mess. If you are running Windows XP, and are looking to purchase your first setup, or entirely upgrade your old setup, then the cost of the D-link is well worth it.

On Top of Concord Hill (Little House: The Caroline Years) by Maria D. Wilkes

5.0 out of 5 stars When Ma was little, October 1, 2004
This book is about Laura Ingall's Ma when she was nine years old. It reads very much like all the little house books about Laura Ingalls but is even easier to read. In ma's family there were three boys and three girls. Ma was the middle girl. All six of the kids like each other and get along well. Ma's name is Caroline. Her father has been lost at sea five years ago and her mother works cooking for workmen. One day Caroline overhears one of the workmen ask her mother to marry him! We learn a lot in this book like how to preserve vegetables for the winter, what kind of food to buy to last all winter, how to make a beehive, and how to behave when you're invited to a fancy house. There are also some songs like in the little house books about Laura. And we get to meet someone who Laura could have been named after. If only our parents and grandparents could write books like this about their lives. This is truly an enjoyable book.
